Celebrated English painter, David Hockney<\/a>, is exhibiting his wildly anticipated David Hockney: 82 Portraits and 1 Still-Life series in the US. The exhibition has had renowned success across Europe and Australia and will debut at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The exhibition features a series of impressively colorful portraits all of which were painted in the last few years. The show in its entirety showcases the artist\u2019s lifelong works as a leader in the pop art movement.<\/p>\n

The colorful portraits features prominent art figures as well Hockney\u2019s own friends and family members. The series was painted over several years in his Hollywood Hills studio.<\/p>\n

The exhibit was featured in My Modern Met where they describe, \u201cRather than working from photographs, the artist opted to paint the figures from life, completing each portrait after \u2018a 20-hour exposure\u2019\u2014a period during which his sitter would pose in a yellow chair.\u201d Each portrait was painted with acrylic on canvas with 82 completed portraits in total.<\/p>\n

In a similar colorful style as his portraits, Hockney completed the 1 Still Life where he features fruits and vegetables on a blue bench. The colorful produce pop out from the monochromatic canvas.<\/p>\n

A simultaneous installation In the Studio features a mural composed of 3,000-collaged photographs. Completed in December 2017, In the Studio, is a photographic drawing printed on seven sheets of paper and then mounted onto seven panels of Dibond aluminum composite material. The self-portrait style mural features the artist in his studio where his colorful works surround him. The idea was to create a dimensional approximation of his workspace, a new method for the artist as he explains, \u201c[the piece] is a combination of photography and drawing and printing, each bringing our the best in the other.\u201d<\/p>\n
