Excited shoppers recently streamed into Canberra Centre for a peak at the first Marcs store to open in the Australian national capital of Canberra City \u2013 and it wasn\u2019t just the range of men\u2019s and women\u2019s fashion that caught the collective eye. The store is the first in Australia to showcase Marcs\u2019 new store design concept, which includes an attention-grabbing ceiling made from Dibond\u00ae aluminum composite material by 3A Composites.<\/p>\n

\"ad4a90564ca58c16bcff26fb80d80c38_f215\"<\/a>Dibond is a market-leading panel with unique product properties that allow for routing and folding. Dibond was utilized not only for the ceiling but also for the store entrance.<\/p>\n

(Dibond consists of two pre-painted sheets of .012-inch aluminum bonded to a solid polyethylene core \u2013 a unique composition that makes it approximately one-half the weight of aluminum. Dibond, the flattest panel on the market, offers a superior surface for displaying digital and screen-printed graphics.)<\/p>\n

Mark Simpson, director of Universal Design Studio, said Dibond was chosen for its light weight, versatility and elegance.<\/p>\n

\"a9c61e6eacd618365bc27d7dac0cb771_f216\"<\/a>\u201cThe crux of the Marcs concept was to create a dynamic, neo-modern, effortless interior language,\u201d said Simpson. \u201cThe key components are simple veneered panels — which provide a completely flexible merchandising system — solid oak tables, a family of linoleum and Alucobond\u00ae plinths, free-standing metal racks and, of course, the signature ceiling. Each ceiling panel is formed from folded Dibond and suspended in formation to create a dynamic and bespoke design.\u201d<\/p>\n

(Alucobond aluminum composite material, which consists of two sheets of 0.020-inch aluminum thermobonded to a plastic core, also is manufactured by 3A Composites.)<\/p>\n

The Marcs project is just one striking example of what can be achieved with Dibond, which has been described as \u201cthe composite panel for people with ideas\u201d.
