NEW GATORFLEX™ ECO-FRIENDLY SYNTHETIC VENEER NOW AVAILABLE FOR TWO-PLY CONSTRUCTION

STATESVILLE, N.C. (July 13) – 3A Composites USA has expanded its Gator-Ply® wood-fiber veneer line with GatorFlex™ – a flexible synthetic backer/facer designed with the increased tensile strength and internal bond required for use in two-ply veneer construction. Eco-friendly GatorFlex – which is produced with no added formaldehyde (NAF) – will be introduced at the AWFS Fair 2015 in Las Vegas July 22-25 at the 3A Composites USA Booth No. 9725.

Gator-Ply is the original specialty engineered man-made wood-fiber veneer introduced more than 40 years ago for use as a balancing medium in three-ply and five-ply rigid panel construction. Flexible-yet-strong GatorFlex may be used as a backer/facer in curved applications, including two-ply veneer construction as well as in three-ply and five-ply panel construction.

“As a flexible wood-fiber veneer, GatorFlex offers outstanding handling characteristics as well as enhanced tensile strength that results in less breakage and improved performance,” said Doug Robinson, sales manager, industry/transport markets, 3A Composites USA. “GatorFlex is designed to meet the unique needs of the small shop owner, providing a low-cost option for backing and paint-grade facing as well as for foil lamination. We at 3A Composites are pleased to be able to serve the two-ply veneer construction market with GatorFlex.”

GatorFlex can be used in both high-pressure and veneer backer applications. And, just like original Gator-Ply, GatorFlex helps furniture manufacturers cut costs as the lower-cost alternative to conventional wood and HPL backers.

GatorFlex is available in 49-inch by 97-inch and 50-inch by 98-inch sheet sizes in the White and Natural colors.

GatorFlex joins the Gator-Ply®, Syn-Ply® and Luxcell® synthetic veneer lines by 3A Composites USA, which has been Chain of Custody certified to sell these products as FSC Mixed Sources. This certification was achieved following an assessment conducted by Scientific Certification Systems in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council A.C. (FSC). FSC Chain of Custody Certification is awarded to companies that meet strict tracking requirements to ensure that the products they sell come from well-managed forests. The FSC Mixed Sources label allows manufacturing companies to mix FSC certified material with non-certified material.  The non-certified portion must comply with FSC Controlled Wood standards, which enables manufacturers to avoid unacceptable timber and timber products.
