Back in 2011, the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) and the New Hampshire Lottery created the World’s Largest Authentic Scratch Lottery Ticket in the hopes of grabbing a coveted position in the Guinness Book of World Records.
With strict guidelines from Guinness, and even stricter time constraints, AMI Graphics was commissioned for the project utilizing their signage and graphics expertise to approach the challenge.
Although NHMS and the NH Lottery were interested in a visually compelling design, it was the Guinness guidelines that were the most challenging for the team. According to AMI Graphics, the Guinness team required, “…real paper, a scratchable surface, and a bigger ticket than the previous record holder.”
With large format and extensive graphics capabilities, the team at AMI constructed a 36.2’ feet tall by 18.8′ feet wide Dibond display using a UV printer, CNC router, and special adhesive to replicate the “scratch” component of the ticket.
The project made its way into the world records book and the team at AMI explains, “At the unveiling event where the honor was awarded, a local contest winner was hoisted on a crane where he used a giant replica of a penny to physically scratch off the replica ticket.”
