Multi-Paneled Painting On Dibond Exhibits In New York City
California born artist, David Reed, expresses his fascination with “episodic seeing” through conceptual abstract paintings. Reed is known for creating room-length abstract paintings of swirling brushstrokes. His latest exhibition, David Reed: New Paintings, is oil and acrylic on Dibond aluminum composite material. Oil On Panel And The Rise Of Dibond As A Painting Substrate For Artists
The advantages of using Dibond for a base for oil or other traditional artist paints are that the material is more rigid than canvas and does not require gesso or other primers for use. You normally get very good adhesion from almost all paint systems if you first lightly scuff the surface first and wipe with alcohol. (more…)

Recently, Sean O'Hagan at The Guardian interviewed Albert Oehlen about his Gagosian Gallery exhibition in Mayfair. O'Hagan’s interview explores the artist’s skeletal tree paintings, but also is an examination of the artist himself. Artist Helps Elementary School Students Create Floor To Ceiling Mural On Healthy Living In Their City
Muralist, David Fichter of Cambridge, Massachusetts, recently worked with a local elementary school to assist in the design and construction of a large mural showcasing healthy living in the town of Danvers. As part of a grant, from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the John Thomas Schroeder Foundation, Fichter oversaw the project and assisted the students in their endeavor, which was sponsored by the DanversCares community Coalition. The series, “Brand New Paint Job” by Canadian artist Jon Rafmann, utilizes Google 3D Warehouse models as templates for his artist renderings of famous works. He, in essence, “wallpapers” these rooms with art exposing the idea of what if a canvas hadn’t been the artists’ preferred substrate, but interior design instead. (more…)
